1770 Campground - Day 6

Andy, Jenny, Tony & I drove to Getaway Garden Cafe this morning for a coffee ☕️ The cafe is set in beautiful gardens & worth going just to look at the gardens!

Getaway Garden Cafe “Campos”

Andy loved having his photo taken 😜

Andy with his favourites 🤣

Coffee was great & we had a look around the grounds & checked out a few of the items for sale in the Cafe!

Tony & Andy waiting for us 😝

Beautiful Lilly’s 😊

Boys on the love seat - took some convincing to get them to sit here 🤣

Views from the cafe - just spectacular!

Off then for a quick food shop, butcher for our steaks tonight , wood for the fire & bakery lunch.

We booked in for a ride on the Larc this afternoon & had to be there by 3 pm to board.   We took jackets as they do a big splash off the sand banks across from our camp (we can hear them scream from our vans 😬) & we were convinced we would get wet.   Quite organised as everyone was trying to be first on but the Captain called out names & told us where to sit.  Jenny & I had our photo taken before we left 😬

The Larc is an amphibian boat which goes on water & land.

I don’t know whether it was good or not but we had an apprentice driver learning the ropes 😬 we took off & first bit was down a hill into the water - it felt quite strange but a lot of fun & laughs!

Just about to head off into the water 😬

There was a spear fishing competition on today so lots of boats on the water as well as yachts & fishing boats !

Over the water to the island across from our camp.  The Captain was very knowledgeable about the birds, turtles, ocean & history of the area.  Our apprentice driver had us all laughing splashing into the water 🤣. Finally we stopped after lots of bumps & laughter & got off the Larc to have a look around.

The black sand below is mineral sand which is where the turtles 🐢 lay their eggs because of the warmth

These designs are from hermit crabs digging in the sand 🦀

We had our photo taken by the Captain but as we were standing there an Indian lady came up & stood next to us for the photo but we said “no just the 4 of us”🤣 then she grabbed me to have our photo taken - she eventually got what we were saying but she was definitely a serial photo bomber 🤣🤣

More splashdowns & after an hour of touring over water & land we headed back to the van.  It was a great experience & we didn’t get wet 🤣

Back to our van for drinks, another fire 🔥 & steaks cooked on the open flame!  I tried bacon & cheese damper & a plain damper for our dessert which turned out really good.   A few more goes & should have it pretty right!  There were no complaints though 😝

A few drinks, Baileys, chocolate & drambuie & sat an enjoyed the fire till 11pm!
